I hope in visiting with us you may feel the joys and sorrows of our small kennel through the last 13 years. We've tried to chronicle our adventure from the joys of new pups, new champions, even a Dam of Merit ,to the sorrow of parting with our beloved companions. When visiting our Memory Lane I'm sure all of you will feel the twinge of loss of your own companions. I hope the poem there will help. Please enjoy our history and sign the guest book so we know you've visited.I'm Debbie, with my daughter, Lindsey and her husband, Brandon Mangold, and our boxers, we are Von Schmidt Boxers. I am happy to have Lindsey and Brandon as partners in the kennel. Lindsey has become very professional at handling our dogs .We appreciate all the fine training she received as an assistant to professional handlers Terri Galle, Bobby Schoenfeld, and Shawn Clute.
I started into boxers 13 years ago. I should say restarted. As a young girl in California my parents raised boxers. My heart's desire since then was to be able to breed show boxers. When my husband's job was transferred to Houston the opportunity opened. We moved to the country where boxers could have room to run.
My first boxer friends were Ida Baum, of Moon Valley Boxer Fame, and Stephania Jenks of Steph J's Boxers. I also joined the local Boxer Club, Bluebonnet. What a vast supply of information and advice I had found. And I am most proud to have been a member of American Boxer Club for the last six years.
Kay Palade and Bobby Schoenfeld finished both of our first "homebred" champions, "Chip and Solitaire". Bobby Schoenfeld finished Chip's daughter, Topaz also. Their advice, along with Ida and Steph's, introduced me to the wonderful world of "show dogs". We are also proud breeders of two other champions: Ch.Schmidttadd's Rhinestone Cowboy, owned by Tom and Donna Doane, and Ch.Von Schmidt's Lonestar Cowboy, owned by Penny Thurman. Thanks to all our friends, mentors, handlers, who have made this journey so worthwhile.
As we have acquired more knowledge of boxers, we have become more concerned with the health issues in the breed. We have also come to appreciate the tremendous amount of responsibility involved in being "reputable breeders". We take both these issues very seriously and health clear all the dogs we breed. We would like to encourage both "long-time" and new breeders to take these issues very seriously. We have provided links to some of these important issues for your convenience. Please read them and become informed.
